OTDN pouches are oral products containing nicotine derived from tobacco, designed for oral use without combustion. Assessing their dissolution and permeation characteristics is critical for evaluating product performance, nicotine delivery, and safety.
Nicotine pouch manufacturers routinely test these products for dissolution and permeation and design in vitro protocols to simulate the dissolution of product into the saliva and then the permeation of the nicotine through oral mucosa into systemic circulation.
Pion have recently released an Application Brief describing the use of our MicroFLUXTM system to measure dissolution and permeation rates in vitro to simulate real conditions including physiological temperature, agitation, and pH.
